ESCANABA, MI – Bay College announces the fall 2023 concert series line-up! The series includes artists: Generations Jazz, The Make-Believe Spurs, Delilah DeWylde, Escanaba City Band, Marquette Symphony Orchestra, and Switchback. All concerts start at 7pm EST with the Box Office and doors opening at 6:30pm EST. Concerts are performed on Main Campus in the Besse Theater, 2001 N. Lincoln Rd., Escanaba. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased online, www.baycollege.tix.com, or at the Box Office. It brings the College great pleasure to bring arts, culture, and entertainment to the community.
On Thursday, September 14, kicking off the season is Generations Jazz. Generations Jazz is a family-based group out of Marquette, MI consisting of young jazz vocalist Shanti Dart and father, guitarist Ryan Dart, who are often joined by local jazz musicians. Generations Jazz dishes out tunes from the Great American Songbook in the style of their heroes: Joe Pass and Ella Fitzgerald. Their sound encompasses genres including swing, blues and Latin jazz. With a unique arrangement style, melodic voice and a flair for retro sonic adventure, they always strive to deliver that 1950’s sound that they love so much. Admission: $15/K-Bay: $7
The Make-Believe Spurs will be performing on Tuesday, October 10. Also based in Marquette, The Make-Believe Spurs have been playing sparkly Alt-Folk and Americana together since 2022. Their intent is to share kindness, love, and magic through music. Major influences include The Band, the Black Keys, Bob Dylan, John Prine, and Nathaniel Rateliff. Their sound and setup is versatile, ranging from close-knit harmonies to electric romps for the dance floor. Performing close to 200 shows a year, they tour all over the United States, but primarily focus on the Great Lakes region. Admission: $15/K-Bay: $7
On Wednesday, October 26, making the pilgrimage to perform for us in the U.P. is Delilah DeWylde (and be prepared to jump back in time!). Delilah DeWylde has an Early American rock ‘n roll sound, and she brings you on journey through the 50s and 60s highlighting historical moments while honoring the women who’ve paved the way for future female rockers. Admission: $15/K-Bay: $7
Up next and celebrating the joy of the season, joining us will be the Escanaba City Band! Performing a free concert on “Giving Tuesday” on Tuesday, November 28. The Escanaba City Band will perform a full-length holiday concert and several Bay College student clubs and organizations will be collecting donations whether monetary or “in need” items for various local causes. Donations are welcomed, however are not required to attend. Admission: Free to attend, donations are welcomed
The Marquette Symphony Orchestra will be performing as well. Details and admission will be released at a later date.
Wrapping up the fall semester and back for another year, performing “A Very Switchback Christmas” is Switchback on Tuesday, December 5. “The words ‘American Roots & Celtic Soul’ only begin to describe this unusual act, whose vocal prowess is as pure as it is unique. There is no denying the stunning vocal blends that are achieved by this duo.” – Music Connection. Admission: $20, K-Bay: $10
