Bay de Noc Beekeeping Club Announces Free Beekeeping 101 Event

January 28 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

The Bay de Noc Beekeeping Club will hold its annual Beekeeping 101 event on Saturday, Jan. 28 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Eastern at Bay College in Escanaba.According to organizers, the event is perfect for those who are looking to start their own backyard hives or who just want to learn more about honey bees. Discussion will cover the basic fundamentals of how to keep honeybees. This includes information on the roles of honeybees in the hive, what equipment to start with, how to get your bees, and more.

“Beekeeping is a fascinating process once you get started. It seems silly to say, but you become mesmerized by these tiny creatures. They open your eyes to what is happening around you and you become more engaged with your natural surroundings. We are looking forward to helping new beekeepers get started,” said Jessica LaMarch, President of the club.

This event will take place in Room 952 in the Joseph Heirman University Center at the Bay College Escanaba campus from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. All are welcome and registration is not required. A suggested donation of $5 per person is requested to cover use of the facilities. Lunch will not be provided, but coffee and snacks will be available by donation.
