The Big Freeze Winter Festival

The Big Freeze Winter Festival kicks off with Fire & Ice Night. This fundraiser event will raise money for the Delta County Search & Rescue Team. It will be held at the U.P. State Fairgrounds, Ruth Butler Building, on Friday February 17th, 2023 from 5:00-8:00PM (EST). There will be a chili cook-off, LIVE ice carving performance by Food Network’s Randy Finch, 50/50 raffle, silent auction, LIVE music and more!
The 2nd Annual Big Freeze Ice Fishing Derby will be held on Saturday February 18th, 2023. Contestants will compete to catch the biggest Perch, Walleye, & Northern Pike (measured by length). Pre-Registration is required. Check-In will be held Friday February 17th, 2023 from 5:00-8:00PM (EST) in the Ruth Butler Building, located at the U.P. State Fairgrounds. Competitors will pick-up 2023 Big Freeze gear, competition writstband, and sign a liability waiver. The fishing derby runs from 4:00AM – 2:00PM (EST) on Saturday February 18th. Boundary waters include Little Bay De Noc. All entries must be submitted on the FishDonkey App by 2:00PM (EST), in order to qualify for a chance to win. The fishermen’s dinner will begin at 3:00PM and the prize ceremony will be at 3:30PM (EST) in the U.P. State Fairgounds, Ruth Butler Building. Competitors must be present & show valid Photo ID to claim prizes.
On Saturday February 18, from 12:00 – 6:00PM (EST) there will also be family-friendly winter themed activities held at the Ruth Butler Building on the U.P. State Fairgrounds. Get ready to have some fun: canvas painting, horse drawn carriage rides, kid’s crafts, games, bounce house, face painting, and more!
