The U.P. Labor-Management Council, Inc. has once again selected the Island Resort & Casino, Harris, as the host site for its 2023 Annual Conference. The Annual Conference, entitled “Facing the Future Together”, has been scheduled for Thursday, March 9, 2023. The one-day conference will feature five educational seminars for participants. The morning general session is “Unleashing the Power of an Engaged Workplace” presented by John Beck, Michigan State University School of Human Resources & Labor Relations. Breakout sessions include “Strategies for Retaining Dues Paying Members” presented by Mike Smith, U.P. Construction Council, “Understanding Mental Health in the Workplace” presented by Chad Hale, Pathways Community Mental Health, and “Putting Together a Case: The Evidentiary Process” presented by Dennis Devaney, Clark Hill PLC. All three breakout sessions will be offered once in the morning and once in the afternoon. The final general session for the 2023 Annual Conference will be “Ins and Outs of Grievance Administration and Settlement”, presented by Aaron D Graves, Bodman PLC. Anyone in the workplace representing labor or management, as well as college students would find this conference educational and time well spent.
